EU-funded project for renewable energies with RWTH Aachen University
KARL DEUTSCH is proud to be part of the Europe-wide research project “Winclusion”, which is funded by the European Union.
This interdisciplinary project is led by the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. In addition to KARL DEUTSCH, the renowned European steel manufacturers Sidenor (Spain) and Ovako (Sweden) as well as the gear manufacturer Flender are also involved in this project.
The aim is to develop methods for the life cycle parallel and uncertainty-based determination of defect distributions in highly stressed gears of wind turbines. This should minimise fatigue-related gear damage, which can lead to total damage and generator failure. KARL DEUTSCH supports this development project by providing equipment and expertise for detecting defects in raw materials and finished components.
This makes an important contribution to the longevity of wind power gearboxes, driving forward the transition to renewable energies and the fulfilment of CO2 reduction targets.
More information about Winclusion can be found on the project website by RWTH Aachen University.
